Aviation Business Excellence Awards is an award that was created by Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) in Aviation Business Excellence Awards is an award that was created by Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) in conjunction with the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) to improve performance based on the principles of customer focus, stakeholder value, and process management to improve customer experience and make industry players more competitive.
ABEA has adopted a Business Excellence framework which calls for the systematic use of quality management principles and tools in business management.
ABEA comprises of four determinants namely:
- Leadership, Ethics, and Results
- Customer and Quality, Marketing
- People focus
The Award is primarily based on data collection on the thematic areas/determinants as alluded above.
Willfreight Express Cargo Services was among the numerous companies (every company operating within the Kenyan Airports) invited to participate in the much-coveted award whose introductory briefing was done on 23rd May 2019 at Weston Hotel; opposite Wilson Airport starting 9.00 am in the morning.
What followed after the session was filling an application form, waiting for consideration by the ABEA officials, an invitation for training after being considered eligible to participate, company assessment, site visit by ABEA officials, technical analysis, and ultimately the ABEA Gala Dinner where winners would receive an award.
Willfreight Express Cargo Services was represented by four participants during the whole exercise, each representing one of the four determinants as mandated by the exercise.
All our four participants were invited to the grand event; that is, the ABEA Gala dinner that was held at Ole Sereni Hotel on 15th November 2019. The occasion began at 5.00 pm.
All participants had been asked in advance to attend the ceremony in their traditional regalia.
In an event graced by several participants, every participant in his glowing African wear and everyone anticipating to win a prize.
Willfreight Express Cargo Services managed to scoop three medals each representing all the categories that formed the basis of the ABEA award.
